KATHMANDU: The Chinese embassy in Pakistan has confirmed the deaths of five Chinese citizens and one Pakistani in a terrorist attack that occurred in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Tuesday.

The attack occurred at 1 pm local time when terrorists targeted a vehicle belonging to the Dasu hydropower project, which is being constructed by a Chinese company in the province.

The incident took place in the Sangla area of the province, prompting authorities to cordon off the area for investigation.

Those injured in the attack have been transported to the hospital for treatment.

The Pakistani authorities have urged the embassy to implement practical and effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, organizations, and projects in Pakistan, emphasizing the need to prevent such incidents from recurring.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari has also expressed condemnation of the incident.
