3 injured by lightning strike in Chitwan

KATHMANDU: Three individuals were injured in an lightning strike triggered by heavy rainfall in Chitwan.
According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred at around 11 p.m. on Monday at the residence of 55-year-old Som Bahadur Chepang in Sarling, Ward No. 1 of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality.
As per spokesperson Shree Ram Bhandari of the District Police Office, the lightning strike affected Som Bahadur Chepang’s wife, 50-year-old Sanumaya Chepang, along with their daughter Manisha (aged 10) and son Ram Bahadur (aged 12).
Sanumaya and Manisha sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at the local health center.
Ram Bahadur suffered injuries to his hand, abdomen, and ankle, and is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Bharatpur.
Additionally, their temporary mud house in Chitwan was also destroyed by the lightning strike.
The authorities are actively providing assistance to the affected individuals.
