Teen dies of drowning in Kankai Canal

KATHMANDU: A teenager drowned in the Kankai Canal while going for a swim after celebrating Holi in Jhapa.

Ravin Shrestha, a 15-year-old inhabitant of Shivasatakshi-11 Shristhi tole, drowned while swimming in the Kankai canal near Shivsatakshi 11, Jhapa.

Shrestha went swimming with his pals about 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Shrestha’s body was discovered trapped in the iron of the canal at Siphon after being washed away by it.

His corpse has been transferred to Bhadrapur State Hospital for a post-mortem, according to police, and an investigation is ongoing.
