Holi: Kathmandu valley witnesses tightened traffic control

KATHMANDU: In light of the Holi festival, heightened vigilance by traffic authorities is observed today in Kathmandu Valley.
The Kathmandu District Police Range has deployed 3,000 security personnel across Kathmandu Valley today, coinciding with the Holi festival, to avert any potential disturbances during the celebrations.
This deployment aims to bolster security measures throughout the Valley, ensuring a safe and orderly observance of the Holi festival.
Concerns over potential reckless driving and traffic violations, particularly among the youth, have prompted an increase in traffic police presence.
According to Superintendent of Police Navaraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, stringent actions will be taken against individuals engaged in unlawful activities, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, creating disturbances, or causing inconvenience to others during the Holi festivities.
The Valley Traffic Police Office reports the establishment of checkpoints across Kathmandu, supplemented by mobile patrols covering different locations.
A total of 2,500 uniformed security personnel and 500 in plainclothes will be deployed to maintain law and order during the Holi festival.
Police checkpoints will be active across Kathmandu Valley from Sunday morning onwards to prevent any untoward incidents.
These measures aim to ensure a safe and accident-free Holi celebration.
