Dharan murder case: accused held from Dhankuta
According to a senior police official, the suspect, who fled to Dhankuta following the crime, has been apprehended and brought to the district police station in Dharan.
KATHMANDU: Police have detained a suspect in relation to the tragic killing of 21-year-old Sumana Shrestha from Dharan Sub-Metropolitan-18.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a senior police official, the suspect, who fled to Dhankuta following the crime, has been apprehended and brought to the district police station in Dharan.
Reportedly, the suspect confessed to the crime, citing a betrayal in their relationship as the motive behind the heinous incident.
Authorities are in the process of seeking an extension from the court for further investigation and plan to disclose more details about the case on Friday.
Sumana’s lifeless body was discovered with signs of a slit throat, prompting immediate police action.
While initially, seven individuals were detained and questioned, it was determined that the suspect, belonging to the Bhujel caste, was responsible for the brutal murder.
Sumana was cremated on Thursday.
