Relatives provide DNA samples for fallen soldiers in Russian Army

KATHMANDU: Relatives of Nepali citizens who lost their lives while serving in the Russian Army have provided DNA samples to aid in the identification process for the deceased.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Russian government had previously requested DNA samples to assist in identifying 15 Nepali nationals who perished in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The government has called upon the families of Jeet Bahadur Pun Magar and Abhishek Buda from Dang, Prem Prakash Neupane from Nawalparasi, Chandra Bahadur BC from Banke, Bijay Bahadur Thokar, and Jitendra Bahadur Ghising from Makwanpur to provide DNA samples.
Similarly, DNA samples have been requested from Somesh Sunuwar and Bikash Rai from Pyuthan, Ghan Shyam Shahi from Morang, Prem Bahadur Kathayat from Accham, Khom Bahadur Bhujel from Okhaldunga, Bimal Kumar Gajmer from Dhanusha, Tika Bahadur Rana Magar from Tehrathum, and Bhim Bahadur BC from Khotang.
Presently, eight of the 15 DNA samples have been dispatched to Russia by the government.
