Dharan murder case: body identified, victim named as Sumana Shrestha

KATHMANDU: The body discovered in a state of strangulation in Dharan has been positively identified.
The victim, whose body was found in a ditch in Dharan 18 on Wednesday, has been identified as Sumana Shrestha, a resident of Dharan 16.
Law enforcement authorities have also identified a suspect involved in her murder and are working to apprehend him. The police have been actively deployed in response to the incident.
Shrestha, aged 21, was found with her throat slit, indicating a violent demise. The discovery was made around 2:30 pm on Wednesday when a local woman stumbled upon the girl’s lifeless body while tending to her goats.
The body was found lying in the ditch, with a small khukuri located a short distance away, as revealed by the police.
The girl’s remains have been transferred to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for post-mortem examination.
Additionally, the police have employed the assistance of trained canines to aid in the search for individuals involved in the crime.
Authorities have stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
