Farmers receive improved species of maize seeds on subsidy

KATHMANDU: Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan has distributed improved species of maize seeds to farmers on subsidy.
The rural municipality has provided maize seeds of ‘Rampur Composite’ and ‘Manakamana 3’ varieties on subsidy.
Chief of agriculture section of the rural municipality, Ashish Tripathi shared maize seeds were provided to the farmers with 60 percent subsidy.
The farmers of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality now are busy preparing the fields for sowing maize.
The rural municipality has so far distributed 57 quintals of maize seeds, he said.
The rural municipality is planning to provide 60 quintals of maize seeds to the farmers in all seven wards.
Maize is the main food crop of the farmers here.
According to the agriculture section, maize is cultivated in over 1,500 hectares of land in all the seven wards of Ichchhakamana.
