KATHMANDU: On the 14th memorial day of the late former President and Prime Minister of the Nepali Congress, Girija Prasad Koirala, various programs are being organized today.

In commemoration of the memorial day, Nepali Congress, along with the G.P. Koirala Foundation and other organizations, have arranged several events.

Koirala, who served as Prime Minister five times, passed away on Chaitra 7, 2066 BS (March 20 2010 AD).

Born in 1981 BS (1924 AD) in Bihar, India, Koirala spent his early years in opposition to the Rana regime while his parents were in exile.

His significant contributions include his involvement in the 2047 BS (1990 AD) movement, the second People’s Movement of 2062-63 BS (2005-06 AD), and his pivotal role in transitioning Nepal from a decade-long Maoist armed conflict to peace, including the signing of the 12-point agreement, among other crucial political milestones.
