‘Suicide Note’ found with dead 19-year-old Sushmita Thapa

KATHMANDU: The death of 19-year-old Sushmita Thapa, whose body was discovered in a forest near the Pashupati area of Kathmandu, has raised concerns after a suicide note was recovered at the scene.
According to DSP Keshav Theve of Gaushala Metropolitan Police Circle, the contents of the suicide note cannot be disclosed at this time, and investigations are underway to determine its authenticity.
Sushmita, a resident of Kapan and a student at Reliance College, was found hanging from a tree near Gorakhnath Temple in the Pashupati area.
She had reportedly left her home to attend college but was discovered dead in the forest two days later.
The discovery was made by a passerby on Friday morning, prompting police intervention.
While initial assessments suggest suicide, DSP Theve emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Sushmita’s death.
The body has been transferred to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examination, as authorities seek to unravel the mystery behind this tragic incident.
