Health Minister urges all children to be vaccinated
He urged parents to actively participate in the government's vaccination campaign.
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, urges parents to ensure measles-rubella vaccination for all children within their age group.
Today, releasing a video message, Yadav emphasized the importance of vaccinating children against measles-rubella, citing the current risk of infection.
He urged parents to actively participate in the government’s vaccination campaign.
Highlighting Nepal’s commitment to global efforts in eradicating measles-rubella by 2026, Yadav stressed the need for nationwide vaccination coverage.
He noted that since last year, the infection has been prevalent in Terai, Madhesh, and the Kathmandu Valley, labeling these regions as high-risk areas for measles.
Children between nine months to 15 years old and 9 months to five years old in 51 districts are also being vaccinated in 21 highly infected measles-rubella districts and three in Kathmandu Valley.
‘This vaccine given in the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign is an additional amount. Therefore, everyone who has been vaccinated or not should be vaccinated on this occasion”, he said.
