Fire gutted 3 houses in Dhankuta, property worth 4 million damaged
The fire was brought under control after about two hours with the help of fire brigade, security personnel and local residents.
KATHMANDU: Three houses of Dharmasala (spiritual dwelling) were engulfed in flames in the early hours of Thursday morning in Dhankuta Municipality-10.
The fire broke out around 10:30 AM, causing extensive damage to the properties.
The fire was brought under control after about two hours with the help of fire brigade, security personnel and local residents.
According to Narayan Bhattarai, the in-charge of the nearby police checkpoint, the fire originated from the residence of Kamala Nepal Moktan.
It is suspected to have started from a faulty firewood in the kitchen. While there were no human casualties reported, the estimated economic loss is around Rs 4 million.
The affected area lies within the boundary area of Pakhribas Municipality & Dhankuta Municipality,
Fire brigades of Dhankuta Municipality, Pakhribas Municipality and Laligurans Municipality reached to control the fire.
The Nepali Army, Armed Police Forces and police teams were mobilized in large numbers.
