Women killed as tree falls on bike

KATHMANDU: A woman lost her life after a tree fell onto the motion motorcycle in Dhankuta.

Usha Tamang, aged 30 and a resident of Ward 1 Hile in Dhankuta Municipality, tragically lost her life on Thursday afternoon.

The motorcycle was being driven by her husband when the tree came crushing down upon it.

She was a pillion rider on a motorcycle (State 1-02-049 Pa 6040) when a dry tree fell on them in Salleri, Ward 4 of Dhankuta Municipality.

The broken tree strike Tamang’s head and chest. She was rushed to Dhankuta Hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead.

The motorcycle rider, Aashish Tamang, is reported to be unharmed.

Ashish is Usha’s husband, police said.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the Tamang couple, of Hile, Dhankuta, were returning from treatment at the district hospital.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
