4 police officers, including CIB Chief Bajracharya, face recommended action
As a result, departmental action has been recommended against four police officers, including CIB Chief (AIG) Kiran Bajracharya.
KATHMANDU: The commission tasked with investigating gold smuggling has concluded that serious errors were made by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) during the gold smuggling probe.
As a result, departmental action has been recommended against four police officers, including CIB Chief (AIG) Kiran Bajracharya.
AIG Bajracharya, along with Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjay Singh Thapa, Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwaya Durga Dahal, and Rugam Kunwar, the coordinator of the investigation committee, are facing recommendations for disciplinary measures due to flawed investigation practices and alleged connections with individuals involved in the gold smuggling network.
Critics accuse the commission of shielding individuals who should be prosecuted, as some of them reportedly remained at the bureau despite their involvement.
The commission is of the opinion that they have conducted a flawed investigation on 60 kg of gold and vape.
The commission has investigated and submitted a report on the gold brought from Hong Kong and hidden in a vape from Dubai.
The Commission has recommended departmental action against them in the handover report to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane on Thursday.
This report was submitted by the Home Minister to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday.
He has instructed not to leave whoever is guilty.
