6 dies in Udayapur jeep accident
Six people died on the spot when the jeep fell from cliff in Belaka municipality-7 of the district.
KATHMANDU: A accident involving jeep with registration number Ko 1 Ja 2593 occurred in the vicinity of Mainamaini, Udayapur, resulting in the deaths of six individuals.
Additionally, eight others sustained injuries, as reported by local authorities.
According to the District Police Office, Bhojpur, the jeep was carrying 14 passengers at the time of the incident.
Further details are awaited as the police team dispatched to the scene continues its investigation.
The driver of the Jeep, Man Bahadur Basnet, has been identified, but the identities of the other deceased have yet to be confirmed.
Rescue operations are underway at the site, and preparations are being made to transport the injured to Dharan for further treatment, as informed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sudip Raj Pathak, the Chief of Police at the District Police Office, Bhojpur.
Local sources indicate that the jeep veered off the road, approximately 800 meters downhill from the highway.
