Plywood industry fire put out after two days, property worth 15 million damaged

KATHMANDU: The fire that erupted at the plywood industry in Jyamirgarhi since Monday morning was finally extinguished on Wednesday afternoon.

He estimated the damage to material property at 15 million rupees.
The main block of the industry suffered complete destruction, while a substantial amount of stored wood pellets and produced plywood were reduced to ashes.
Employing 1,200 workers, the plywood industry is deemed the largest in Nepal, with its products being exported abroad. Upon receiving news of the fire, 12 fire engines relentlessly battled the blaze.
Extinguishing the fire engulfing the wooden pellets posed significant challenges, prompting assistance from fire engines dispatched from India.
Milan KC, Chief of the Jhapa District Police Office, confirmed the mobilization of teams from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police to combat the fire.
