Police in Makwanpur destroyes opium plantation

KATHMANDU: In a coordinated effort between local authorities and law enforcement agencies, a significant opium plantation spanning approximately 5 bighas in Kandrang, situated within Raksirang Rural Municipality-9 of Makwanpur district, was successfully eradicated on Falgun 28 (March 11).
The operation, led by a joint team comprising members from the Makwanpur District Police, Armed Police Force Nepal No. 14, and the National Investigation District Office, resulted in the thorough destruction of the illicit cultivation.
Furthermore, continuing their crackdown on illegal drug activities, authorities targeted another opium cultivation site in the Runchewang area of the same rural municipality on Falgun 29 (March 12), further reinforcing their commitment to combating narcotics production and trafficking within the region.
