KATHMANDU: Renu Dahal, head of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality, met with Nigel Evans, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

According to the information given by Dahal, during the meeting, there was a discussion about Nepal-UK relations and Gurkha soldiers serving in the British army.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around the longstanding relations between the two nations and their people.
Chief Dahal extended an invitation to Deputy Speaker Nigel to visit Nepal and partake in the ‘Bharatpur Visit Year 2024’ initiative.
Bharatpur Metropolitan Corporation has designated 2024 as the “Year of Visiting Bharatpur” under the theme “Visit Bharatpur.”
Following the meeting, Dahal mentioned that Nigel delved into the history of the British Parliament and observed parliamentary proceedings, along with visiting the Parliament building.
