Shalin, found dead in hostel, cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat
While her family suspected foul play, alleging murder after potential assault, Pokhrel's autopsy report revealed no signs of sexual assault.
KATHMANDU: Shalin Pokhrel, who passed away in a Chitwan hostel, was laid to rest at Pashupati Aryaghat today.
Pokhrel’s final rites took place at Pashupati Aryaghat on Wednesday afternoon.
She was 14 years old living in the dormitory of Ekta Shishu Niketan Boarding School and was found dead in her room on the morning of Falgun 12 (Feb 24).
Her body was found suspended from a ceiling fan in the room.
While her family suspected foul play, alleging murder after potential assault, Pokhrel’s autopsy report revealed no signs of sexual assault.
Authorities have detained the school’s 60-year-old principal, Balhari Devkota, 40-year-old vice-principal Kiran Bahadur Adhikari, and 48-year-old hostel warden Kamal Sharma Paudel for further investigation into the incident.
