15-year-old girl murder case: suspect arrested

KATHMANDU: The police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the homicide of a 15-year-old girl in Morang’s Patharishanishare.
The individual was detained by the District Police Office, Morang, and is currently under investigation regarding certain matters.

Sources suggest that the suspect may have had prior involvement in another incident, potentially linking it to the motive behind the murder.
The victim, 15-year-old Gyanmati Thulung Rai, resided in Lama Tole within Patharishanishchare Municipality-7.
According to DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal, spokesperson for the Morang police, the girl was residing at her aunt’s son’s house.
Reportedly, an unidentified assailant attacked her with a sharp weapon at her residence around 11 pm, resulting in wounds found across various parts of her body, including her neck.
Upon hearing her scream during the assault, her brother Binod rushed to the scene. He informed the police that his sister succumbed to her injuries shortly after he reached.
The deceased was a seventh-grade student at a local secondary school. Additionally, she assisted in her uncle’s son Binod’s hotel business, located nearby.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the police. They are currently questioning individuals residing in the house and the surrounding community while closely monitoring any suspicious activity.
