16 injured in a jeep accident in Chungwang, one critical

KATHMANDU: Sixteen people sustained injuries in a pick-up jeep accident in Pakhribas Municipality Ward No. 10 Chungwang on Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajawavu Maharjan from District Police Office Dhankuta reported that one of the injured individuals is in critical condition.

The incident involved a pick-up jeep (Ko 1 Cha 1619), traveling from Hile to Chungwang, which veered off the road near Bharati Secondary School, plunging approximately 50 meters down.

Police authorities have reached at the scene, and efforts are underway to transport the injured to the hospital for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by a tire malfunction, compounded by the unpaved road conditions.

The site of the incident is located approximately 15 km from Hile Police Station.
