Arrest made in Gopal Dhakal murder case

KATHMANDU: Authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of Gopal Dhakal’s murder in Bhaktapur, announcing the arrest of Santosh Suwal, aged 29, a resident of Changunarayan Municipality-6.

Gopal Dhakal, 33, hailing from Chattar Rural Municipality-2 in Tehrathum district, was found dead in Suryabinayak Municipality-8.

Rabindra Regmi, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, confirmed that Santosh Suwal was taken into custody on suspicion of being involved in Dhakal’s untimely demise.

After a ten-day evasion, Santosh Suwal was apprehended on Saturday in Mandan Deupur Municipality-6, Kavre, following the investigation into Gopal Dhakal’s demise.

Dhakal had gone missing before his death, and his wife, Renu Dhakal, received a ransom demand of Rs 200,000 for his release from a jungle in Suryabinayak.

Upon receiving the call, Renu promptly informed the authorities.

The subsequent day, Dhakal’s lifeless body was discovered in Suryabinayak Municipality-8.
