KATHMANDU: The court has granted the police permission to detain Sharmila Waiba, a social activist arrested for beating and mutilation, for four days in order to conduct an investigation.

Waiba was nabbed by police in Bahrbise, Sindhupalchowk, on Wednesday.
After learning that Waiba had arrived in Sindhupalchowk, the Kathmandu police worked with the local police to apprehend her.
Comedian actor Pawan Khatiwada (Myakuri) has filed a police report against Waiba.
Actor Khatiwada filed a complaint, alleging that Waiba had battered him.
Sharmila Waiba, Pawan’s wife Sumnima Khaling, and sister Ganga assaulted him a few days ago in his home.
Pawan, who suffered facial injuries, held a news conference to discuss the incident.
There is a disagreement with Pawan’s wife Sumnima.
Pawan stated in the complaint that Waiba beat him while engaging in the same dispute.
