After Acharya’s demise, actors express: ‘The end of a musical institution’
Actor Neer Shah, who came to pay his respects, said that the late Bhaktaraj Acharya had made an unequaled contribution to Nepali modern and devotional music.
KATHMANDU: The mortal remains of senior singer and composer Swa Bhaktaraj Acharya have been put at Nepal Music and Drama Institute for final tributes.
The body of Acharya, who passed on Monday, has been retained for final rituals.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chair of CPN-UML and previous Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chair of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Rajendra Prasad Lingden, General Ministers of Nepali Congress Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, and other leaders and actors were in attendance.
Actor Neer Shah, who came to pay his respects, said that the late Bhaktaraj Acharya had made an unequaled contribution to Nepali modern and devotional music.
He portrayed him as possessing all of the attributes required as a musician.
He stated that late Acharya is a person who climbs beyond the ranks of the conscious and works for the advancement of music.
According to actor Jitu Nepal, even if Acharya’s corporeal body has left Nepal, his creations will live on in Nepali culture. He stated that the music university had passed away.
Acharya, 82, died on Monday afternoon at Medicity Hospital in Lalitpur. Acharya has been ill for a long time.
Acharya has provided voice and music for around 400 songs.
Acharya, a modern singer for prominent popular singer and composer of Nepali music Narayan Gopal, was born in Dhankuta in 1999 BS.
Acharya’s two sons: Satyaraj and Swaroop Raj are also in the music industry.
He holds a distinct place in Nepalese Sugam music.
His last rites will be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today itself, it is said.
