KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, known as ‘Prachanda’, expressed that the legacy of veteran singer and musician Bhaktaraj Acharya will serve as a perpetual source of inspiration and guidance for Nepal’s music industry.
Prime Minister Dahal paid his respects to Acharya’s mortal remains at the Nepal Music and Drama Institute today, highlighting the significance of Acharya’s contributions to the nation.

Since 11 am this morning, well-wishers, dignitaries, and figures from the music industry have been paying their respects to Acharya.
His final rites will take place at the Pashupati Aryaghat later today.
Acharya, bestowed with the title of “Bhajan Shiromani,” passed away on Monday at the age of 82 while en route to Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur.
Singer Acharya’s musical legacy continues through his two sons, Satya Raj Acharya and Swaroop Raj Acharya, who are also prominent figures in the music industry.
Born in Dhankuta in 1999, Acharya has lent his voice and musical talents to over 400 songs, making significant contributions to Nepali Sugam music.
