KATHMANDU: Renowned singer and composer Bhaktaraj Acharya has passed away.

Ailing Acharya passed away en route to the hospital while being transported for medical treatment.

Bhajan Shiromani Bhaktaraj Acharya, a renowned singer and composer, had been experiencing health issues for few days back.

Musician Chetan Sapkota confirmed the news of his demise, stating that Acharya had been undergoing treatment for the past one and a half months.

He passed away at the age of 81.

Acharya’s body will be kept at the Music and Drama Academy for final tributes tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

Following that, final rites will be conducted at Aryaghat.
