Microfinance borrowers stage protest in Parliament premises

KATHMANDU: Microfinance borrowers protested by invading the parliament building.

On Monday, as the meeting was taking place in the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, microfinance borrowers entered the building and began fire.

The borrowers, who were in danger due to their inability to repay their microfinance loans and had come to Kathmandu on foot to protest, entered the parliament building and marched on Monday.

The administration has declared the area surrounding the Federal Parliament a restricted area and outlawed the rally.

However, some protestors were arrested after microfinance borrowers violated the banned area and demonstrated.

They protested by sleeping inside the parliament premises saying that they were ready to be shot.
