KATHMANDU: Senior Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) leader Rajendra Mahato resigns from the party and joins hands with indigenous rights advocate Buddhi Chiring Moktan to initiate the “National Liberation Movement” campaign.

Mahato aims to foster an alternative power through this campaign, suggesting the possibility of LSP aligning with the agenda if they concur on establishing federalism with multiple states.

During a program in Kathmandu on Monday, Mahato clarified, “This campaign operates independently and does not replace the party’s framework. Those aligned with our values are welcome to join forces with this movement.”

Expressing discontent with Chair Mahantha Thakur’s choices, Mahato, a prominent figure in LSP, voiced his frustration.

He particularly criticized Thakur’s unilateral approach in appointing office bearers, leading him to abstain from the party’s Central Committee meeting in December.
