KATHMANDU: Marchers intending to encircle Singha Durbar as part of the Mechi-Mahakali journey have staged a sit-in on the main thoroughfare of Bhrikutimandap.

Following intervention by law enforcement at Bhrikutimandap, the protesters opted to occupy the main road there.

Initiating the ‘Justice March’ on January 16th, participants hailed from both the Sudurpaschim East and Sudurpaschim West.

Converging in Bharatpur, they proceeded to Kathmandu for a pivotal demonstration.

Their journey commenced concurrently from Jhapa and Kanchanpur on Martyr’s Day, Magh 16 (Jan 30). After covering ground for 17 days, they convened in Narayangadh, Chitwan, on Falgun 3 (Feb 15).

Representatives from 20 districts in the Madhes region, alongside eight other affected districts, partake in the ‘Justice March.’

Their demands encompass the annulment of counterfeit permits and checks, alongside equitable compensation.

Furthermore, they call for the establishment of a judicial commission to address the underlying issues.
