KATHMANDU: A Nepali youth stranded in Portugal due to a lack of medical treatment following a serious road accident has received financial assistance from Switzerland.

Sushmita Moktan, a 29-year-old from Sindhuli Madi-3, suffered severe injuries in a road accident in Portugal and found herself stranded without access to necessary medical care.

Thanks to the initiative and activism of Sunita Tamang Blon, Secretary of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association of Switzerland, a total of two thousand two hundred and forty-six euros were collected and provided to support Moktan.

Tamang informed that the aid money collected from the Nepali community in Switzerland was sent directly to Moktan’s bank account.

Moktan, who had migrated to Portugal two years ago for employment opportunities, was injured in a car collision on January 10th. The accident left her with a broken right arm and a hip fracture that rendered her left leg immobile.

Earlier, the news of Moktan’s plight due to a lack of medical treatment was broadcast through the National News Committee.

Efforts to gather support from various sectors for Moktan’s medical treatment are ongoing.
