Murder accused from Bhojpur apprehended after 21 years

KATHMANDU: Two accused involved in the murder that occurred in Bhojpur have been apprehended by the police after 21 years. The arrest was made on Monday night based on special information, according to Sudipraj Pathak, the chief DSP of Bhojpur.

The arrested individuals are identified as Prashnajang Rai, 54 years old, and Sauraj Rai, who is 58 years old, residing in Tyamkemaiyung Rural Municipality-4 (formerly Nagi Rural Municipality-10).

The incident dates back to Magh 24, 2059 BS, when a 40-year-old Bhakta Bahadur Rai was fatally attacked with sharp and domestic weapons at his rented room in Bhim Bahadur Rai’s house in Tyamkemaiyung-4, Bhojpur.

The police report states that Bhakta Bahadur Rai was murdered by striking him with sharp and domestic weapons at his residence.

The individuals involved in the incident had been absconding until now.

He said that Prashanjung was arrested from Bhojpur Municipality 7 and Souraj from Tyamkemaiyung-4.

Further proceedings in the case will be carried out as per legal procedures, with an extension of the deadline for investigating the case filed against the arrested suspects on Tuesday, as informed by DSP Pathak.
