KATHMANDU: Shekhar Koirala, a prominent central member of the Nepali Congress, has subtly suggested the influence of coalition dynamics in the upcoming proposals set to be presented during the party’s pivotal Central Committee meeting.

Convening at the NC central office in Sanepa on Friday, the meeting saw Koirala emphasizing the imperative need for coalition-building, underscoring its pivotal role in the proposed initiatives.

Pointing to the palpable impact of coalition dynamics in the discussions surrounding the three pivotal proposals, Dr. Koirala remarked, “Upon scrutiny of the reports and documents slated for presentation, the influence of coalition dynamics becomes increasingly evident.”

He further expressed concern, stating, “While the proposals should ideally align with the party’s core principles, it appears that the influence of coalition considerations may be steering the discourse.”

The proposed policy framework, crafted under the guidance of Deputy Prime Minister and NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, addresses the necessity of coalition politics within the context of Nepal’s mixed electoral system, acknowledging the challenge of securing a majority for any single party.

Khadka’s proposal tactfully navigates the delicate balance of coalition politics without overtly criticizing the current coalition government.

Furthermore, General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma sequentially presented proposals outlining organizational restructuring and providing insights into the current political landscape.

As the Nepali Congress navigates the complex political terrain, the Central Committee meeting serves as a crucial juncture to deliberate on strategies that resonate with the party’s core values while remaining responsive to the evolving dynamics of coalition governance.
