In the Lalita Niwas land case, the bench comprising members of the Special Court, Dame Khushi Prasad Tharu, Ram Bahadur Thapa, and Ritendra Thapa, found 12 individuals guilty, including Ramkumar Subedi and Shobhakanta Dhakal.

KATHMANDU: In the Lalita Niwas land case, the bench comprising members of the Special Court, Dame Khushi Prasad Tharu, Ram Bahadur Thapa, and Ritendra Thapa, found 12 individuals guilty, including Ramkumar Subedi and Shobhakanta Dhakal.
According to Supreme Court spokesperson Dhan Bahadur Karki, Kaladhar Deuja, Surendraman Kapali, Yukt Prasad Shrestha, and Jagat Prasad Pudasaini were also among those convicted.
According to him, the court has decided that the land registered in the name of 65 people will be confiscated through resignation or bakaspatra.
Ramkumar Subedi and Shobhakant Dhakal, who played pivotal roles in the land acquisition scheme, have been found guilty, along with Suvarna Shamsher’s family, as confirmed by spokesperson Karki.
He stated that Suvarna Shumsher’s relatives, as well as his workers, were found guilty of stealing government land in his name under the guise of a Council of Ministers resolution.
The court acquitted Hemadri Samsher Rana, who was first charged by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) with transferring the aforementioned land to the name of another individual.
Former Chief of CIAA Deep Basnyat, along with the then Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Chhabiraj Panta, has been found guilty of fabricating a fake individual in relation to government residential land in Baluwatar and other land exchange and residential expansion areas.
The court determined that former Malpot and land reform employees, including Chabiraj Pant and Deep Basnyat, were involved in the embezzlement of over 90 million from 19 ropani of land.
They have been fined 8 million each and sentenced to 2 years in prison.
In the Lalita Niwas land case, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and Dambarkumar Shrestha have been acquitted by the court.
