Lalita Niwas case: Four ex-ministers along with Vijay Gachchdar acquitted
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Physical Planning Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, former State Minister Sanjay Kumar Shah, former Land Reforms Minister Dambar Bahadur Shrestha and former Land Reforms Minister Chandradev Joshi were acquitted in the Lalita Niwas case by the special court.

KATHMANDU: The special court has given its verdict in the case of transfer of government land of Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar to private individuals.
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Physical Planning Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, former State Minister Sanjay Kumar Shah, former Land Reforms Minister Dambar Bahadur Shrestha and former Land Reforms Minister Chandradev Joshi were acquitted in the Lalita Niwas case by the special court.
The case was handled by Special Court Judges Khushi Prasad Tharu, Ram Bahadur Thapa, and Ritendra Thapa. The hearing had begun in the court on Magh 2 (Jan 16).
The Misuse of Authority Investigation Commission filed a case alleging that the documents for 143 ropani land of Lalita Niwas were purchased and transferred to the name of a person.
In the Lalita Niwas case, 175 individuals, including former Deputy Prime Minister and Physical Planning Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, former State Ministers Sanjay Kumar Sah and Dambur Bahadur Shrestha, former Land Reforms Minister Chandra Dev Joshi, and former chiefs and secretaries of commissions, were charged with corruption in the special court on Magh 22, 2076 (5 Feb, 2020).
