Prachanda calls for unity among Maoist forces at state convention

KATHMANDU: Chair of the Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), stressed the imperative of unity among all Maoist factions, urging them to unite for a common goal.
Addressing the party’s state convention at the Nepal Academy in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prachanda called for collaboration.
“Let’s consolidate all Maoist groups into a single center and front. There’s no time to waste; delaying further will only exacerbate the political damage. We must not underestimate the potential consequences,” he emphasized.
His plea was directed towards those who have distanced themselves from the Maoist Centre party.
“Let’s conduct a comprehensive assessment, foster self-criticism, and stand united against reactionary forces. Regardless of your current stance, I supported you in the past; now, I urge you to support me in fostering unity,” he urged.
Reflecting on a time when his mere statement could halt the country’s activities, he expressed his commitment to leading the nation towards a new revolution in his later years.
“If comrades are ready to take the lead, I am willing to step aside from leadership. I have no desire to cling onto power,” he declared.
Pointing out the increasing presence of reactionary elements, Prachanda called on all Maoist factions to prepare for resistance.
“This is a crucial moment for action; reactionary forces are becoming more prominent. Let’s seize this opportunity. We have initiated the campaign for socialism from both party and government platforms,” he asserted.
