KATHMANDU: Actress Surakshya Panta’s debut play ‘Kalesha’ has been staged at Mandala Theatre.

This Nepalese play, which was chosen for the 23rd Bharat Rang Mahotsav, will be performed today at 12 noon and 5 pm.

Previously, a special staging was held on Magh 29 at 5 p.m. The performance attempted to tell the story of Sage Valmiki in a completely contemporary manner.

The cast includes Sarita Giri, Bijay Baral, Kushal Pandey, Sudeep Khatiwada, Vikas Joshi, Rosni Karki, Swapnil Ghimire, Sandeep Shrestha, Sanyog Guragain, Milan Karki, Sujan Khatiwada, Savina Thapa, Ruja Raut, and Surakshya Panta.

The play, written by Pratishya Kattel and produced and directed by Vijaya Karki, will be performed at the 23rd Bharat Rang Mahotsav on Feb 17 and 19 in New Delhi and Ramnagar, respectively.

The festival, hosted annually by the National Drama School under the National Academy of Dramatic Arts of India, is expected to feature 59 Indian folk pieces, one from Russia, and two others.

The drama ‘Kalesha’ was produced on a monthly basis at Mandala Theatre in the month of Ashadh 2076.
