KATHMANDU: TikTok, a leading Chinese digital video creation platform, has formally requested the Nepal government to reconsider and revoke the ban imposed on its services.

In a formal correspondence, the company has presented a comprehensive five-point plan to address regulatory concerns.

TikTok has committed to fully complying with Nepal’s legal framework, establishing direct channels of communication for content-related discussions, implementing effective content filtering mechanisms for Nepali users, launching nationwide initiatives to promote internet safety and digital literacy, and focusing on producing educational content beneficial for students across schools and colleges.

This appeal follows TikTok’s ban in Nepal since November of the preceding year.

Through its letter, the company has emphasized its dedication to collaborating with the government and adhering to local regulations to ensure a responsible and secure online environment for Nepali users.
