Ministry of Home Affairs: No leave granted on People’s War Day

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that there would be no public holiday on Falgun 1 (Feb 13).

Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, issued a notice on Monday stating that there will be no public holiday on Tuesday, Falgun 1 (Feb 13).
Last year, the federal government declared a holiday on February 13, the day of ‘People’s War Day’.
However, the Supreme Court canceled the leave. Following the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the holiday, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statement stating that there will be no public holiday on Falgun 1 (Feb 13).
The Supreme Court had ordered not to give leave on ‘People’s War Day’ from now on Poush 13 (Dec 29). The Supreme Court’s explanation was that the public holiday, which did not complete the duties of the peace process, caused more pain to the victims.
Various local levels have decided to give a public holiday on Falgun 1 (Feb 13) on the occasion of ‘People’s War Day’.
