Counterfeit notes recovered from Indian vehicle in Sunsari

KATHMANDU: The Sunsari Police have seized counterfeit notes totaling 1 crore 82 lakh 51 thousand rupees from an Indian vehicle.

Suspicion arose when the Sunsari Police inspected the Indian vehicle bearing registration number BR 11 X 3429 and discovered counterfeit notes during the check.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi, the chief of Sunsari Police Office, the counterfeit notes were found in the rear portion of the vehicle during the inspection conducted on the East-West highway near Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in Inaruwa Municipality-4.

In addition to confiscating the counterfeit currency, the police have also apprehended the Indian driver, identified as Mohammad Saeed, aged 22, from Birpur, along with another individual who managed to flee the scene.

The police have informed that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the absconding individual.
