KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress central member and former minister Keshav Kumar Budhathoki passed away.

Leader Budhathoki passed away on Monday night at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment in Biratnagar.

Leader Budhathoki, who has been suffering from prostate cancer for a long time, was undergoing treatment for kidney problems recently.

Budhathoki, a resident of Jhapa Arjundhara Municipality, popularly known as ‘Seto Bagh’, was a minister in both the Panchayat period and the Republic regime.

From the position of General Administration Minister to Assistant Minister of Irrigation, National Panchayat member, Chief of the Village Council, to District Panchayat Chairman, Budhathoki emerged as a popular leader among the public.

The body of Budhathoki, who had two sons and one daughter, will be kept at the district party office Jhapa today for last respects, Nepali Congress Jhapa secretary Krishna Humagain informed.
