Drama ‘Gangalal’ being staged in Shilpee (photos)

KATHMANDU: A drama based on the life of Martyr Gangalal Shrestha is being staged at Shilpee Theatre in Battisputali.

This drama began on Friday, Magh 19 (Feb 2), and will run till Magh 29 (Feb 12). According to director Che Shankar, Shaheed Gangalal is portrayed in the drama as both a revolutionary and a whole human being.
The drama is based on events that occurred in Nepal’s political climate between Bikram Samvat 1991 and 1997, as well as Shaheed Gangalal’s life events.
Martyr Dharma Bhakta, Martyr Shukraraj, and Martyr Dashratha, together with Tanka Prasad Acharya, Ganeshman Singh, and poet Siddhicharan Shrestha, will play characters in the drama Gangalal.
According to writer-director Che, drama students, professors, politicians, writers, and performers should approach Gangalal from a different perspective.
The drama to be staged on the occasion of Martyr’s Day was staged in the theatre on the day of Martyr’s Day. Nirbhik, Shaku Shah, Inara Banu, Deepak Chaldangya, Sandeep Dangol, Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary, Niraj Dahal, Bishwash Manandhar, Rishikesh, Krimu Aden Batri, Eliza Tumbapo, Revan Rai, Roshan Chand have acted in the play.
The music design for the play is Utsav Budhathoki, sound design is by Rijan Maharjan and Abhishek BK.
The cartoon used in the play was produced by Roshan Bhandari. Director Shankar had previously directed more than a dozen dramas like ‘Kohi Kina Barbad Hos’, ‘Mad Man’s Diary’, ‘Look Back in Anger’, ‘Same Time Next Year’, ‘Ular’.
Until Magh 29 (Feb 12), every evening at 5 pm and an additional show will be staged at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon.
