Tokha Municipality removing illegal structures built on public land
The municipality has commenced the removal of unlawfully built structures, clearing public land for the benefit of the community.
KATHMANDU: Tokha Municipality in Kathmandu has initiated the removal of illegal structures constructed on public land.
To safeguard public land, the municipality established a ‘Public Land Protection Committee,’ led by Ward Chair Dharmendra Shrestha of Ward No. 4.
The municipality has commenced the removal of unlawfully built structures, clearing public land for the benefit of the community.
Today, the committee successfully removed illegal structures from Baniyatar Bridge to Manorath Tirtha in Tokha Municipality-11.
Prakash Adhikari, the municipality’s chief, stated that the initiative aims to facilitate smoother traffic by eliminating structures encroaching on public land around the Bishnumati Corridor.
The municipality plans to thoroughly search for and address encroachments on all public lands within its jurisdiction.
Deputy Head Murari Tamang highlighted the municipality’s commitment to safeguarding public property, citing over 1000 public lands in Tokha.
The removal process aligns with the conservation plan outlined for the municipality. Chief Administrative Officer Sher Bahadur VC emphasized that the removal of illegal structures on public land followed prior notices.
The municipality is expediting the clearance of encroached land within Tokha.
Tokha Municipality announced its intention to continue removing illegal structures around Fluorescent School in Tokha-8 Baniyatar.
