KATHMANDU: The immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has stopped two Indian citizens who were attempting to travel to China and Dubai in a suspicious manner.

Indian citizens Salim Bhai Menon and Rajeev Ranjan were denied permission to leave by the immigration office.

Menon was flying to Dubai, while Ranjan was going to China. They prepared to leave for that on Thursday. An immigration official stated that their travel was likewise strange.

As there was no objection letter from the Indian Embassy in Nepal, the Immigration Department returned Menon and Ranjan without permission to leave.

When Indian people visit another country via Nepal for the first time, the Indian Embassy in Nepal sends a no objection letter. Both Menon and Ranjan had no objection letters.

Sources said that both of them could not explain to the immigration officer the reason why they had to go to a third country through Nepal.
