2 dead, 6 injured in fireworks factory blaze in Philippines

MANILA: A blaze erupted at a small fireworks factory in Laguna province, south of Manila, on Thursday, killing two people and injuring six others, local police said.

The fire broke out in Cabuyao city in the afternoon.

Two people died on the spot, while some of those who sustained injuries were in critical condition, police said.

Firefighters put out the fire two hours later, preventing it from spreading to other factories and houses in the area.

Witnesses said they heard several loud explosions before the fire ripped through the factory.

Police said they were still investigating what triggered the explosions.
