KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court, under Judge Madhav Prasad Ghimire’s bench, has granted a 4-day detention for Arun Chaudhary, the Managing Director of CG Holding, who was arrested in connection with the land scam case involving Bansbari Leather and Shoe Factory.

Chaudhary, brought to court via the district attorney’s office, received the detention approval today.

In the same case, Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa, the former Chair of the Board of Directors of Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory, was also granted a 4-day detention by the court for further investigation.

The CIB arrested Arun Chaudhary and Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa, along with Sanjay Thakur of Amrapali Construction, today. The investigation revealed that, under Thapa’s leadership, the then Board of Directors managed to transfer 10 ropanis of land into Arun Chaudhary’s name.

The case had been under investigation by the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission for 15 months, and with no progress, the CIB took over the investigation.

The Chaudhary group, allegedly, changed the ownership of shares in the government’s name in the Bansbari Leather and Shoe Factory land, declaring it private property.
