Minister Jwala summoned to provide statement on Balkumari incident
Two individuals lost their lives when police opened fire on them after Minister Jwala's vehicle was set on fire in Balkumari on Poush 13 (Dec 29).
KATHMANDU: Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala has been summoned to give a statement about the incident that killed 2 people at Balkumari in Lalitpur.
Two individuals lost their lives when police opened fire on them after Minister Jwala’s vehicle was set on fire in Balkumari on Poush 13 (Dec 29).
There was widespread criticism that the minister was the root cause of the affair.
Furthermore, security agencies have stated that if Minister Jwala had not arrived in that region at the time, the incident resulting in two deaths would not have occurred.
The government set up a panel to investigate the occurrence. The commission has issued a letter to the minister requesting a statement.
A commission member stated that a letter was sent to Minister Jwala requesting that he come for a statement.
Minister Jwala has gone to the commission today and informed that he will present his views.
Birendra Shah of Achham and Sujan Rawat of Dailekh, who were preparing to reavel for foreign employment, were killed by the use of ‘lethal’ force by the police in Balkumari.
