KATHMANDU: Beginning today, Kathmandu Metropolitan City provided free parking in the basement of Dharahara, which is currently under development at Sundhara.
Following the prohibition of parking on the blacked pitched road in the New Road area, free parking has been set up at Dharahara in order to provide motorists with convenient parking options.
Senior Superintendent of Police Raghunath Pandey, the Metropolitan Police Force’s chief, stated that parking was given in the basement in the Dharahara area in collaboration with stakeholders.
“Previously, we have provided free parking service at Kathmandu Tower (former old bus park),” said the official. “Parking services have been provided in the basement in Dharahara area since Sunday in coordination with the stakeholders.”
According to him, parking can be done in a total area of one and a half lakh square feet in the Dharahara area, where a three-story parking lot has been constructed.
More than 400 four-wheeled vehicles and 1500 motorcycles can be parked. Structurally, this place is said to be the biggest parking structure in the country so far.
Heading from Shaheed Gate toward New Road, you’ll find the parking area on the left side between Kathmandu Mall and Khichapokhri.
