KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced the imposition of a parking ban on the blacktopped roads in the New Road area, starting from Tuesday.

The metropolitan plans to provide free parking facilities at the Kathmandu Tower, indicating that parking in the New Road area will no longer be allowed.

Rajunath Paudel, Chief of the Metropolitan Traffic Police, shared that there are plans to implement special cleanliness campaigns in areas where parking has been prohibited to facilitate smoother traffic flow.

He mentioned that alternative parking facilities would be available at Kathmandu Tower with three hundred four-wheel and two hundred two-wheel parking spaces.

The Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police, Paudel, emphasized that parking restrictions are imposed with the goal of making traffic movement more convenient.

The areas affected by the parking ban include the sections from Dharmapath, Juddha Sallik, Indrachowk, and beyond Maha Bouddha to Bir Hospital on the blacktopped roads.

This move follows the enforcement of a parking ban in the nearby Jhochhen area.
