Senior singer & musician Yogesh Vaidya passes away
Vaidya, 77, is a well-known singer and musician of Nepali and Nepali languages.
KATHMANDU: Yogesh Vaidya, a senior singer and composer, has passed away. Vaidya, who was unwell, died around 12:30 on Thursday night while being transported to the hospital.
He was taken to the Valley Hospital. Vaidya, 77, is a well-known singer and musician of Nepali and Nepali languages.
In Nepali, prominent phrases include ‘Sapana Bhulai Sara Aanshu Liyeara Jau’, ‘Mero Aaanshu Ma Nahanse’, and ‘Nepal Mero Uphaar Bho’.
Similarly, ‘Jai Namo Siri Buddha Bhagwan’ and ‘Jimi Yahmah Thou Jithay Vai’ are common Nepali phrases.
Vaidya recently received the prestigious ‘Dhunswan Saymi Sirpa’ from the Ganki Bashundhara Institute. Yogesh, who completed his SLC in 12 years and 9 months and received his B.Sc degree from Trichandra College, reached Radio Nepal unknowingly.
Indra Narayan Manandhar took him to Radio Nepal on a motorcycle. Yogesh was the first to be offered Public Service Commission after completing his MSc in Botany.
Yogesh, who had been in government service for about 33 years, retired from the post of joint secretary in 2006. He also completed his master’s degree in Food and Nutrition from the State University of Ghent, Belgium.
His family said that his last rites will be performed in Pashupati on Friday.
He has two daughters and one son.
