Renowned pediatric specialist Dr. Gautam, along with in-laws & 2 children, dies in accident

KATHMANDU: Dr. Mahesh Kumar Gautam, a senior physician, killed in a car (State 3-01-23 Cha 6985) accident in Seto Pahara in Chandragiri, Kathmandu.

Gautam, a special doctor at the Nepal Asthma Allergy Center in Lazimpat, died on Saturday in an accident in which the automobile he was driving killed five people, including himself.

According to family sources, he took time off for Prithvi Jayanti and went out with his entire family. On the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, or National Unity Day, he posted images of himself out on a stroll with his family on social media.

He went for a stroll from home, but Saturday afternoon was a black day for his family and all of his friends.

Dr. Gautam, along with his family, faced a tragic accident while traveling from Kathmandu to Chitlang.

The incident occurred approximately 500 meters from the road at Seto Pahara above Panighat in Chandragiri Municipality.

Unfortunately, four lives, including Dr. Gautam, were lost on the spot. His daughter, Smarika Gautam, succumbed to injuries during treatment at Vayodha Hospital in Balkhu.

The victims of this heartbreaking accident include 67-year-old Omkar Nidhi Tiwari and 64-year-old Kalpana Tiwari from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-30 Maitidevi, who were Dr. Gautam’s father/mother-in-law.

Additionally, his 4-year-old son Priyansh and 6-year-old daughter Smarika lost their lives.

Dr. Srishti Tiwari Gautam, a cancer specialist, sustained injuries in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at Vayodha Hospital.

The family tragedy has left a profound impact, and the community mourns the loss of lives in this unfortunate incident.
